Counselling for Young People
Children and young people can experience a range of psychological difficulties associated with grief and loss, or in managing relationships at home, in school or with their peers.
They may face the challenge of anxiety, depression, loneliness, bullying, doubts about gender, sexuality or identity.
Counselling can help children and young people to express and to cope with difficult feelings. Early intervention may help to prevent more serious mental health problems in adulthood.
Depending on the age of the child, they may be too young to easily put their feelings into words. Young children in particular often best express themselves through art and play.
I have a range of creative materials and activities that I can use with children and young people including sand, water, paints, puppets, toy figures, collage materials, therapeutic games and cards.
A counselling relationship with a child or young person is based on trust and is non-judgemental. It is often unique from the other relationships in their life.
